Rohde & Schwarz COMINT / C-ESM systems are customized solutions for radio monitoring and radio-location in the 10 kHz to 40 GHz frequency range. The systems are suitable for land-based, naval and airborne applications. Configurations range from small portable single-operator, mobile applications to complex semi-mobile or fixed monitoring stations with dedicated operator positions. These can be supported by remote subsystems through various kinds of wired or wireless communications. The modular system concept using standardized hardware and software components enables our system to be tailored to meet customer requirements.
The systems have been developed to efficiently handle the constantly growing amounts of data that are generated by modern radio-monitoring systems. Accordingly, powerful algorithms enable the system to automatically detect radio traffic and radio networks within intercepted electromagnetic emissions, an approach that significantly accelerates evaluation. The detected radio traffic, metadata and associated parameters are stored in a system database where they are available for further analysis.
The system comprises the following tasks for modern and challenging EM operations:
- Mission planning
- Creation and exchange of operational and technical orders and reports
- Interception of radio signals including: search, direction-finding, position fix, recording/playback of audio and IF signals, classification
- Technical analysis of communication signals
- Evaluation of generated reports, analysis of the tactical situation and creation of condensed summary reports as a contribution for an Electronic Order of Battle (EOB).
